Small Wedding Venues: just a few guests or a cheap wedding?

Small weddings don’t necessarily mean cheap weddings. Of course if you do want to marry on a tight budget then small guest numbers at a small venue is probably a prerequisite. However there are some small venues in that are truly unique in what they offer and the level of service and opulence they offer mean that they are anything but cheap. So if you are thinking of having a small wedding you need to be clear just exactly what you want.

If saving on the cost of the wedding is your driving force then you need to have this in mind when you search for suitable venues. The cost of the venue/reception is after all, nearly always the most expensive part of any wedding celebration.

It might be an idea to directly approach an intimate venue that you know of, one that perhaps doesn’t advertise normally as a wedding venue. There are many gorgeous restaurants around that may avail their facilities to you if you are prepared to ask. Normally you pay a premium price for a wedding quality venue. Negotiating a good deal is not always possible as they are not often short of bookings and the price is fixed…take it or leave it. But if you are proactive and approach a venue not usually used as a wedding venue with an enquiry for use of their restaurant or bar lounge, then there may be a deal that can be struck.

Of course if money is no object and having a private intimate celebration with just a few close family members and friends present is the objective, then the reduced numbers attending opens up all sorts of opportunities that a large reception would not have available to it. Gorgeous and exclusive venues such as luxury suites and small boutique hotels as well as quality restaurants and small event spaces in 5 star hotels become an option.
